Probable Cause

DTSB: The DTSB determines the Probable Cause of this accident to be Pilot Error, in that the accident pilot made a takeoff from runway 02 at 7S3 airport, the available runway length was 2,465 feet. Approximately 1000 feet after start of the takeoff, the pilot aborted and closed the throttle and applied brakes, then decided to continue the takeoff with only 1,215 feet remaining. The aircraft was airborne very briefly before the pilot elected to abort for a second time, adding full braking with only 665 feet remaining. The aircraft stayed in heavy braking until the end of the runway, whereupon the accident pilot attempted to make it fly, added power a second time and rotated, and become briefly airborne for several hundred feet while crossing a road. The aircraft was fully stalled and impacted the terrain 350 feet north of the departure end of runway 02.

NTSB: NONE

Recommendation

DTSB: The DTSB recommends that all pilots of all aircraft rehears and condition themselves for the AQP scenario of RTO, and to have a well developed plan in place prior to beginning any takeoff. The DTSB also recommends that aircraft of this type not use airports with available runway of less than 3,000 feet.

NTSB: NONE
