Probable Cause
DTSB: Pending. The accident pilot had mad two previous landing attempts using left pattern for runway 15. Both previous attempts were not aligned and unstable. First point of contact was the midpoint of a tall pine where it appears that the right wing hit first, causing the plane to spin right and crash just a few yards beyond. After on site review by DTSB volunteers, it appears that the aircraft did not stall, but rather was forced lower by the pilot whereupon he misjudged his amount of runway remaining (1000 feet) and his alignment. Aircraft control and flight pattern had been mostly normal until this impact, suggesting that a medical impairment was not likely.
