Probable Cause
DTSB: The DTSB determines the Probable Cause of this accident to be Pilot Error, in that the pilot continued VFR flight into conditions of rapidly deteriorating celling and visibility. Dense fog was present in the area of the accident site at the time of the accident. The pilot impacted flat terrain at a high speed. Impact marks and debris were consistent with the airplane impacting the terrain in about a 90° right bank and about 40° nose down attitude. The debris field was about 526 ft. in length and 67 ft. in width.
NTSB: NONE
Recommendation
DTSB: The DTSB recommends that all pilots of all aircraft be very cautious when attempting VFR flight over great distances due to rapidly changing weather conditions. The DTSB recommends the AQP best practice of delay, until weather conditions improve such that the flight can continue safely.
NTSB: NONE
